“Where The Best Shoes Are Made”

Ipoh is home to many shoe makers, approximately 200 odds; both cottage types and large manufacturers included. It’s an age old industry started more than 100 years ago. These 200 odd plus shoe makers in Ipoh accounts to 70% of Malaysia’s shoe exports and also contributing RM1 Billion annually or in percentage wise constituting approximately 65% of the annual national gross revenues from the footwear industry alone.

In 2011, the Perak State Government and in-collaboration with the Perak Footwear Industry Association, mooted the idea of a one-stop shoe hub to house local shoe designers, makers & manufacturers in one location and named it as the IPOH Shoe City.

Strategically located at a prime district of Pengkalan Lahat. It is easily accessible via the Ipoh-Lumut highway. Just a short 5 minutes drive from Tesco & Jusco, the nearby double track railway station and also routes ply by public transport.

It houses 126 light industrial buildings (of different mix types ranging from terrace, semi-detached to detached units), 18 double storey terrace retail/office lots, 1 mixed unit of boutique hotel with retail floors and also a state of the art Convention Centre able to accommodate world class exhibitions both small or large scale and grand dinners of up to 200 tables.

It’s Malaysia’s one-stop shoe hub for overseas buyers to discover local designs & manufacturing needs.
